Committee of Ministers Deputies of the Council of Europe successfully concluding its work for the first half of 2010

Strasbourg, 9 July 2010 - The Committee of Ministers Deputies of the Council of Europe (CDM) is successfully concluding its work for the first half of 2010. From January until July, the CDM held seventeen sessions, two of which were dedicated to the supervision of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.

The 120th session of the Committee of Ministers took place on 11 of May 2010, and was attended by the Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Žbogar. During the session, Switzerland concluded its Chairmanship of the Council of Europe, and responsibility was handed over to Macedonia, which will retain the function until November 2010.

During the first half of the year, we followed three sessions of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which were also attended by deputies of the Slovenian National Assembly.

Among the most important issues discussed was the beginning of the Council of Europe's reform process proposed by the new Secretary General, Thorbjørn Jagland. There were also some changes in the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Slovenia, with Damjan Bergant becoming, in April, the new ambassador and permanent representative of Slovenia.  At the same time, the previous team, which led the Permanent Representation during the Slovenian Chairmanship period from May until November 2009, concluded its mandate.

After the busy and successful introductory months, the Permanent Representation is preparing for the new challenges that await us in the autumn. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a great vacation.
