Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), 22-26 April 2013
Strasbourg – the Spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will take place from 22-26 April 2013.
German President Joachim Gauck, Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta and Andorran Head of Government Antoni Martí will address the PACE Spring session.
This sessions topics for debate include the Assembly’s post-monitoring dialogue with Turkey, draft Protocol No. 15 amending the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, violence against religious communities, fighting “child sex tourism”, ending discrimination against Roma children and balancing the benefits and risks of nanotechnology.
Other personalities to address the Assembly include Andorran Foreign Minister Gilbert Saboya Sunyé, who will present the Communication from the Committee of Ministers to the Assembly, and the Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter. Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner Nils Muižnieks will present his 2012 activity report.
A delegation from the Slovenian Parliament will also attend the session of the Spring Parliamentary Assembly.
