Strasbourg - On 17 January 2014, Council of Europe’s Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) published its first report on Slovenia, in which the members of GRETA state that the Slovenian authorities have taken important steps in the area of action against trafficking in human beings.
The report among others warmly welcomes the Slovenian adoption of legislation and national action plans and the setting up of coordination structures as well as the provision of public funding to non-governmental organizations running the assistance programmes for victims of trafficking.
Improvements still remain to be made in some areas, such as trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation, trafficking in children and trafficking within Slovenia.
