Zero tolerance of violence against women
Strasbourg, 10 December 2015 – The photographic exhibition 'Violence on Her Skin', which is part of the two-year campaign 'Vesna – to live a life free of violence' opened at Palace of Europe. Permanent Representation of Slovenia to the Council of Europe hosted a reception last night to celebrate International Human Rights Day. On this occasion, State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Martina Vuk paid a visit to the Council of Europe. Joining her on the list of speakers were Eva Tomič, Permanent Representative of Slovenia to the Council of Europe, Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni and Erdogan Iscan, President of the Committee of the Parties to the Istanbul Convention and Permanent Representative of Turkey to the Council of Europe. All the speakers called for zero tolerance of violence against women and further accessions to the Istanbul Convention as the first internationally binding instrument dealing with violence against women. Exhibition will remain open until 22 December.
