120th Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe
The 120th Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which will be attended by the Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Samuel Žbogar, will take place on 11 May 2010 in Strasbourg. The Committee of Ministers is the Council of Europe’s decision-making body, which meets at the highest level once per year. Topics related to the Council of Europe reform, such as the follow-up to the Interlaken Conference on the Future of the European Court of Human Rights and the relations between the Council of Europe and the European Union, will be addressed during this year’s session. The ministers will also address the current political issues such as action taken by the Council of Europe following the conflict in Georgia and the strategic role and responsibility of the Council of Europe with regard to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Switzerland will hand over its Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers and the Committee of Ministers’ Deputies to Macedonia, which will hold it for the next 6 months.
