Council of Europe Standing Conference of Ministers of Education

The 23rd Council of Europe Standing Conference of Ministers of Education, organised in co-operation with the Slovenian Ministry of Education and Sport, took place in Brdo pri Kranju from the 4th to the 5th of June 2010. The topic of the Conference was: ''Education for Sustainable Democratic Societies: the Role of Teachers in an Interdependent Europe''.
In the introduction, the Conference was addressed by: Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe; Igor Lukšič, Slovenian Minister of Education and Sport; and Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, Council of Europe Director General of Education, Culture and Heritage, Youth and Sport. Danilo Türk, President of the Republic of Slovenia, and Pavel Zgaga, a renowned Slovenian professor at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Education, took part as expert panellists.
Ministers from 50 states, signatories to the European Cultural Convention, observer countries and key intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations took part in the Conference. All together, more than 200 participants attended the Conference.
