The Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg released a letter to the Prime Minister Borut Pahor
Strasbourg - The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Thomas Hammarberg, has released a letter to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, following his visit to Slovenia on 7-8 April 2011. In the letter, he praises efforts made to promote the inclusion of Roma into society and the model of elected Roma councillors an example of good practice that may be shared with other member states of the Council of Europe.
At the same time, Commissioner indicated the need to find solutions to other problems regarding the Roma communities in Slovenia, as well as the resolution of the situation of the ‘erased’ persons after adoption of the amended law from 2010.
Commissioner Hammarberg has also released the reply letter from Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor.
