Summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe
Strasbourg - From 20th to 24th June 2011 the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly will hold the third part of its annual session.
Among main points to be discussed are the Council of Europe support for the emerging Arab democracies, granting the status of the 'Partner for Democracy' to the Parliament of Morocco, asylum, refugees and irregular migrants treatment, rescuing and burden-sharing in Europe, current political situation in Tunisia, follow-up to the Group of Eminent Persons' Report and human rights in Europe. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will also present the Human Rights Prize of the Parliamentary Assembly 2011 to a Russian NGO 'Committee Against Torture'.
Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will be addressed by Viktor Yanukovich, the President of Ukraine, Serzh Sargsyan, the President of Armenia, and Nikolai Mladenov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria among others.
